It’s not fun being that person, (like in the picture in this article) who lets stress blow up into anger within and outwardly. Emotional wellness is often overlooked. Our emotions actually are what can cause a huge factor in our mental health and wellness. When we feelgood we feel great, we smile, we accomplish simple and complex tasks. But when we get stress and we feel sad, overwhelmed, unhappy, over un-aligned with our true self. Sometimes, a lot of times, we take our un-aligned emotional self and get so angry with ourselves or with others, over a simple moment of time, when our emotional stressor is over the top.

Have you ever looked deeply into the role stress has in your life, does it sometimes cause you to get angry? Stress is more prevalent today than 20 years ago. We deal with traffic, time, workplace management, home life balance, commerce, weather, so many stressors that can create our own inner stressors to build until we explode. It appears from all this, that there is more anger (road rage, workplace violence, and so on) than ever before. There is simple stress, you know the life we create for ourselves. It may be exactly what we want, but in between what we want there may be a bit of what we don’t want. Stuff that comes up. Simply put, stress is healthy when controlled, because its what we choose to be stressed over. Healthy stress gets us up in the morning and makes us recognize the value in our day-to-day ability to live, eat, breath, work with self and others. This type of stress typically does not cause anger. Unless we are out of integrity with our selves by not doing what we set for to do during the full day we’ve created in our lives.

Distress, on the other hand, is a type of stress that causes many people to be irritable and sometimes downright angry. This happens when the stress is too much and is no longer a motivator. You can think of this as when there is a combination of stressors and things just keep piling up. One day, the person does not know how to handle this anymore and there is an anger outburst.

What feelings are behind stress? Sometimes its as simple as what we eat, or don’t eat. Blood sugars dropping can cause a feeling of stress in the physical body which turns into mental and emotional stress.
